Message from the President.....
BRINGING THEATRE & PERFORMING ARTS TO THE COMMUNITY FOR 50 YEARS!
Since its inception in 1974, the Orange Players continues to bring together its devotion for the performing arts and the community. This powerful combination affords the ability to draw from many resources to bring quality performances to the stage and allows seasoned and unseasoned theatre lovers an opportunity to participate in a wide range of performance genres, both on the stage and behind the scenes. Theatre is something everyone can be involved in - whether writing, directing, producing, performing, sewing costumes, operating light or sound boards, designing programs, stage managing, organizing properties, designing and building sets, selling tickets, greeting patrons, handing out programs, ushering, supporting us in the audience, sponsoring, graphic design…the list is endless.
The Orange Players provides opportunities for all individuals to expand their talents, learn new skills, challenge themselves, and become part of a supportive and interactive network while building lasting friendships and wonderful memories. Adding to the continued successes of dramatic plays, comedies, and musicals which the theatre is best known for, is the community outreach program comprised of several very talented members bringing readings and musical performances to senior citizen groups, senior living residences and other community organizations on a regular basis. An active member of the Orange Chamber of Commerce, the group participates in local fairs, events, and most recently joined in the scare-fest with the Orange Volunteer Fire Department during the annual Haunted Firehouse.
The Orange Players regularly donates time and resources to the community, most recently a small grand piano now housed in the cafeteria at High Plains Community Center for all to enjoy. The newest addition to our regular season on stage is the highly successful “Acting Up!”, an evening of unpublished, original one act plays featuring local, national, and international playwrights. Now in its ninth season, this is an opportunity for playwrights, directors, and actors of all skill levels to collaborate and bring new works to life on stage and virtually via Zoom during COVID restrictions.
We look forward to keeping the ties of theatre and community together, and to keeping the time-honored traditions alive on our stage along with new, innovative and exciting ideas to come. It promises to be a great season, and we encourage you to join us.
