HISTORY

The Orange Players Association, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the enrichment of theatre in the greater Orange community. Since our first show in 1974, we have continued to expose the community to the enrichment, inspiration and humor of the dramatic arts. Our dedicated volunteers not only strive for artistic excellence but laugh with one another in the process. Connecticut's oldest continuously operating community theatre group, the Players are governed by a Board of Directors who continually work to enhance the organization and spread the interest of theatre to the community. Membership dues are nominal. Upon becoming a member, you will receive periodic newsletters, audition notices for our productions and the opportunity to work on stage or behind the scenes. General Membership Meetings are held several times per year to keep the membership further apprised of the latest O.P. developments.
We hope you will consider becoming an Orange Player and if you have been a Player, renewing your membership.

Jerome L. Hoenig Scholarship

The Jerome L. Hoenig Scholarship Award was created in 1979 in memory of Jerry Hoenig, who directed OP's first mainstage production. Since its inception, the Orange Players hae awarded annual scholarships to students from Amity High School who have made outstanding contributions to theatre and who plan to pursue further education in that discipline. Recipients of the award are chosen by the school administration.

Historian's Corner

During the 2007-08 season, a new feature was added to the O.P. Happening, the Orange Players newsletter, known as the "Historian's Corner". Written by one of our charter members, Pat Miller, it contains fun anecdotes about O.P. seasons past.
For those of you who are lifetime OPers, you might enjoy a trip down memory lane. For those of you who are new to the Players, we hope you will take a few minutes to get a taste of what it has been like to participate in past projects.
While Pat has provided us with all installments to date, we'd love to hear from you if you have a memory you'd like to share. Please contact us if you would like to furnish us with a fond recollection of your experience with the Players.
